It has been quite a month, both in crypto markets in general and for us here at SmartFi! There is so much going on, it is hard to know where to start, but let’s begin with some good news…
The SmartFi token, SMTF, celebrated its first birthday this month, having been originally offered for sale on September 16th last year. As you might imagine, given the year it has been in crypto markets generally, it has been a bumpy ride. The original sale price of SMTF was $0.70 and, after soaring initially up towards $4, the traded price pulled back as not just crypto but other markets such as stocks pulled back.
The good news, though, is that while the most popular coins in the crypto space, BTC and ETH, both lost around 60% in the year following SMTF’s launch, our token, even after the pullback, gained 60% over that year, as it was trading around $1.20 in the middle of the month.
You may have heard us say that SMTF was designed to resist bear market volatility, now there is a year’s performance that says it for us!
People asked for easier access to Tilton Talks Crypto, our weekly information show, so we are now making it a podcast, available on our website and through most major podcast providers.
We covered a range of stories this month, including a fascinating and fun interview with Amelia Powers Gardener, the Utah County Commissioner and pioneer in using blockchain technology in local government, and had episodes that covered regulation in the crypto space and the nature and laws around DAOs.
We even heard stories about what it was like to be in the middle of Black Wednesday, that day that the forex market showed the Bank of England who was boss! Martin Tillier, our head of research, was in the interbank GBP market at time, and he talked with Aaron about what it was like to be there, and what we can all learn from what happened that day.
SmartFi continues to get recognized due to our role as the official cryptocurrency platform of the Monster AMA Supercross series and is gaining increasing coverage in both traditional and crypto-focused media. Chris Terry, our VP Enterprise Solutions has become a go-to source for quotes on all things crypto for may sites and you will see his name pop up all over the place, giving his insight and wisdom, with Aaron often quoted, too.
Oh, and if you haven’t seen it yet, check out this article from CoinTelegraph.
As you may know, here at SmartFi we believe that cryptocurrencies don’t just have the potential to revolutionize finance, but also to, as Aaron our CEO puts it “…move humanity forward”. That is why we started “Crypto Helping People”, an ongoing effort to give back.
Under that banner, a couple of months ago we partnered with “Abundance Without Borders” to make improvements to a rural school in Guatemala. Aaron, looking to walk the walk and not just talk the talk, went there himself to help. What he experienced prompted him to contemplate the power of crypto in general, and the SmartFi community specifically, to make a real difference in people’s lives.
You can find out more about that effort here, and hear Aaron’s thoughts in this YouTube video.
We continue to work on as many ways as possible to enhance the experience for the SmartFi community and bring exclusive benefits to its members, and we have some exciting things in the pipeline. It’s too early to make any official announcement yet, but watch this space…
September has been busy for us at SmartFi, but we like it that way. We are continuing to innovate and develop, to grow our community, and to do some good along the way. We are glad that you, the SmartFi community, are on this journey with us.
Thanks,
The SmartFi Team
